]]>There's a little bit of vocabulary to learn when shopping for seats. A "bench seat" goes all the way across. A "split bench" has either two or three separate seats that seat a total of 3 people up front. Split benches can be either "60-40" or "40-20-40". Bucket seats fit two people up front and are also referred to as captains chairs.
The first step in replacing your bench seats is preparation. Fortunately, most trucks come with pre-drilled holes for seat mounting, making the replacement process fairly straightforward. Here's what you'll need to get started:
Item | Description |
---|---|
Replacement Seats | Bucket seats or captains chairs that are compatible with your truck. |
Mounting Hardware | Bolts and other mounting accessories. |
Tools | Ratchet, sockets, box-cutter, etc. |

For Model Years 2019 and beyond, RAM pickup trucks are available in three distinct body styles, each with its own unique OEM seating options. The Heavy Duty series (2500, 3500, 4500) shares many interior features with the Ram Classic, yet there are significant differences. The 2019 and newer Ram 1500 features a completely redesigned seat.
The new body RAM 1500, also known as the "DT Chassis", is a fully redesigned next Generation truck. Thanks to the new platform, the truck uses brand new seats. The floor mounting platform, as well as the electrical connections, have been altered compared to previous models.
The Ram Heavy Duty series represents a transitional model that maintains the 2009 - 2018 style cab, including the seats. This is referred to as the "DS" Chassis. While the seat's core design remains unchanged, a new cloth material was introduced for consistency with the 1500 models. For more on custom options, visit our Custom Seat Builds page.
Pictured: Diesel Gray Cloth. Manual w/ Alloy Inserts (left), Powered w/ Carbide Inserts (right).
There are several ways to distinguish between these seat types, but the quickest method is to check the bolt pattern. Both the Classic and Heavy Duty models have relatively level mounting points, unlike the 5th Gen Ram 1500 which has one elevated bolt on the transmission tunnel.

At first I was told it was a system of tubing in the seats hooked up to the vehicles air condition system, as seen in the photo above. After some thought, I decided to to research it further, as you are doing today. The tubing system with R134a Freon refrigerant connected to the vehicles air conditioning system just didn't seem safe , especially in a car or truck seat. Obviously I got bad information, IT DEFINITELY WASN'T SAFE AND SURELY NOT TRUE.
Believe it or not, many people think that's how car seats are air conditioned. This is because there are so many misguided articles and blogs on the internet talking about refrigerant, condensers and compressors, it is all rubbish, these articles and blogs are all a fugazi. We at OEM SEATS have never, ever, EVER received a seat that had any freon tubes within the seat or outside the seat to connect to the cars air conditioning system. Since we are the authority of seat sales, with thousands of OEM Seats passing through our warehouse yearly. I promise that if I ever see any freon tubing hanging on the bottom of a seat, I will immediately revise this article.
After more research on Google in 2001, I saw an article that basically said there was duct work sucking up the cold air from the vehicles heat and air conditioned piping system for your rear passengers. A fan under the seat distributes this air through the perforated holes in the leather seats. Well, THAT WAS WRONG TOO! But remember this paragraph as it will be important later in this article.
Also note: many links in this article will be the technical data and complicated information, if you wish to peruse it. However, it is definitely too complicated for me. So this article will remain just about the basics of Air Conditioned Seats.
The CORRECT ANSWER for true air conditioned vehicle seats is the device know as a Peltier (pronounced [PEL] + [TEE] + [AY] ) Unit or thermoelectric device, TED for short. The TED uses the Peltier Effect. This is the TED Unit it measures 2 inches by 2 inches. When you add 12 volts to it, one side gets so cold that if you add a drop of water, it will immediately freeze. The other side will get so hot it will burn you. When you flip the positive (red) and negative (black), which is changing the Polarity, the opposite happens.
Lets go off on a important tangent note. See the round part of the fan housing, that light gray area is a screen mesh air filter. If you have air conditioned seats already but the air doesn't flow out of your perforated leather holes like it used to. That screen air filter may be clogged and needs to be cleaned, some car manufactures have a removable screen filter and you can just replace them. If you don't have a removable filter like the one below, a toothbrush will do the trick. OK, back to the Peltier TED explanation!
True air conditioned seats can both heat and cool using the same system. The TED Device by changing the polarity will either heat or cool.
Below: Air coming from the fan is gray ambient air, after it hits the Peltier unit the red hot air is blown through your perforated leather and the ice cold blue air is exhausted out under your seat.
That stream of waste or exhaust air gets pushed underneath the seat. The switch and computer (ECU or CPU) dictate both the fan speed (voltage), the hot/cold layout of the Peltier (polarity), and the intensity of the Peltier heating/cooling effect (voltage). In addition to what's shown in the illustration below there are also numerous safety sensors measuring temperature of the system throughout. The CPU(computer) takes care of the polarity switching (hot or cold), fan speeds, and safety sensors. The sensors make sure that the Peltier unit doesn't overheat and fail. That repair can get quite expensive.
Now that you know the basics of how air conditioned(cooled) and heated seats work, next is a basic layout of an air conditioned seat in its entirety.
Truly air conditioned (cooled) seats have become the gold standard in seating comfort. If you are wondering, Amerigon was the company to first design the seats.
BUT remember in the beginning of this article when I wrote: "But remember this paragraph as it will be important later in this article".
In the last 4 or 5 years, the car, truck and SUV manufacturers came up with a new term, Ventilated Seats. See the photo below, and remember gray is just the temperature in your vehicles cabin.
These ventilated seats are simply a fan, under your seat blowing the vehicles ambient air temperature through your perforated leather holes. Personally I think the manufacturers just "cheaped out". The computer and switch just control the 3 fan speeds.
Thanks to the "thrifty" folks at the auto manufacturers, more "cost efficient" solutions to heating & cooling have been devised since the advent of peltier cooling! This alternative method employs a resistance wire heater to handle the heating - the heating pad is made of a special foam that allows air to pass through similarly to reticulated foam! We've seen this style in everything from Cadillac to Kia! Thankfully, these systems suck up the coldest air from the vehicle so they're no longer as complicated. There is a performance loss, but it's not quite the 20 degree difference you'd expect when checking technical documents.
So when buying a newer vehicle, make sure your seats are cooled or air conditioned and not just ventilated. I hope this article helped you understand the basics of air conditioned Seats and how they work. So on your next vehicle purchase at the dealership, it will not result in you getting duped by a salesman on the difference between ventilated seats and cooled Seats. You simply have to ask him if these seats have a Peltier unit or just a fan....First he will start stuttering, then you can watch his head explode. Enjoy the Knowledge!
]]>So, what exactly do these brackets do? Simply put, they answer a very crucial question:
"How can we bolt new seats into an old vehicle without drilling through the floorboard?"
If you're in the market for a seat adapter bracket, you might find the following list helpful. Note that this is not an exhaustive list, and we always appreciate any additions or corrections.
Fat Fender Garage produces seat brackets for classic ford trucks that allow you to mount the sixth generation mustang seats directly into your truck.
OBS Solutions offers seat brackets for the OBS Ford Trucks that allow you to directly bolt in the 1999 - 2010 Ford Super Duty Seats. We even offer them brand new with air conditioning, check out our custom seat builds for more information.
OBS Outpost offers a wide variety of brackets to allow for the installation of almost any Chevy truck seat into the older GM Trucks. Learn more about OBS Chevy Seat Swaps.
If you're restoring a K5, Merrick's Garage is a great resource, and they also provide the brackets you'll need to update your interior. To install the front seats you'll want to use the Universal K5 Seat Swap Brackets. These give you a raised platform with a nice flat mounting plate ready to accept many newer seats with very light modification. A rear bench seat can be easily installed using 2007-2014 GM Third Row Seats and pairing them up with K5 Rear Seat Swap Brackets.
Alternate Options: Third Row Brackets from K5 Squared or generic striker brackets on amazon, used OEM on auction websites. These require a longer install process.
DK Auto Imports allows you to use the first gen Scion FRS / Toyota 86 / Subaru BRZ seats in your classic MR2 with these FRS MR2 Seat Swap Brackets.
Add a third row seat to your JKU with Maxpeedingrods Jeep Third Row Seat Brackets. This allows you to install second row JK 2-door seats as a third row seat in your vehicle.
Planted Seat Brackets offers brackets for a wide array of vehicles. These aren't intended to swap a specific set of seats in, they are made to turn your typically uneven floorboard into a flat and easily accessible platform for mounting aftermarket seats. Using those brackets and an OEM Seat with nice flat sliders (similar to how aftermarket seats work) you can bolt-in a large selection of seats into just about anything.
If you have any information that could help us update this list, feel free to contact us via email at support@oemcarandtruckseats.com or use the chat function on this page.
If you can't find a seat or console that fits your needs, consider opting for a premium custom seat build. We offer show-quality builds that cater to your specific requirements.
Bucket seats consist of two separate seats with a console in between. These seats are popular in both cars and trucks and are often referred to as 40-console-40 or captain's chairs. They offer better comfort and support compared to bench seats but limit the number of passengers.

A full bench seat is a single cushion spanning the entire width of the vehicle. While it can seat up to three passengers, it is generally less comfortable than bucket seats. These are commonly found in older vehicles and trucks.

Split bench seats are divided into sections and come in different types:
This version has three separate sections and provides greater storage options than full bench seats.

]]>If you find yourself in this situation, you may wonder what to do next. How can you restore your vehicle to its original condition? How much will it cost? Who will pay for it? Here are some steps you can take to deal with a stolen vehicle with a missing interior.
1. Report the theft and recovery to your insurance company. Depending on your coverage, you may be eligible for reimbursement for the damage caused by the theft. However, keep in mind that some insurance policies have limits or exclusions for theft-related claims, especially for older vehicles or aftermarket parts. You may also have to pay a deductible before your insurance kicks in. Check your policy details and talk to your agent to find out what your options are.
2. Get an estimate for all the relevant repairs. We are happy to work with both you, your insurance company, and any installer you may choose. You will need to take your vehicle to a reputable mechanic or body shop to assess the extent of the damage and give you a quote for the additional repairs. Depending on the make and model of your vehicle and the parts that need to be replaced, this could range from a few hundred to several thousand dollars. You may also need to factor in the cost of towing, storage, rental car, and other expenses related to the theft.
3. Decide whether to repair or replace your vehicle. Depending on the value of your vehicle and the cost of the repairs, you may have to decide whether it is worth fixing or not. If the repairs exceed the value of your vehicle, your insurance company may declare it a total loss and offer you a settlement based on its actual cash value (ACV). You can either accept this offer or negotiate for a higher amount if you think your vehicle is worth more. Alternatively, you can choose to keep your vehicle and repair it yourself or sell it for parts.
Your first thought is to contact your Dealership for a new set of seats, unfortunately is doesn't work that way. Dealers will not sell a complete set of seats. You must order every part of the seat, then have them assembled - a daunting process most dealers won't even undertake. The cost of every seat part from the Dealer will put you in shock. See our Dealer Seat Pricing Comparison where we compare building 2011 Ford F150 Seats or purchasing the same replacement seats from us, and you won't believe the difference. After reading that Article you can imagine, whoever your Insurance Company is, they will not pay for the Dealership Route.
We're happy to help, simply Contact Us. We will work with your insurance company to source a complete set of OEM Seats in the same condition, color and options.

]]>Do you have a new car itch but don't want to pay the high prices of today's market? You are not alone. Many people are holding on to their old vehicles longer than expected. But that doesn't mean you have to settle for a dull and outdated interior. With some simple upgrades, you can transform your current vehicle into a fresh and comfortable ride. After all, the interior is where you spend most of your time in your car.
In this post, we will show you three easy ways to make your old interior feel like new again. These are:
One of the first things that people notice when they get into a car is the smell. A bad smell can ruin your mood and make you feel uncomfortable. A good smell can make you feel relaxed and happy. The smell of your car depends largely on the condition of the interior, especially the soft surfaces like seats, carpet, door panels, and headliner. These surfaces can trap dirt, liquids, and odors over time, making your car smell stale and unpleasant.
The best way to get rid of the old car funk is to replace or clean these surfaces. Replacing your seats and carpet can make a huge difference in the smell of your car. You can also clean your door panels and headliner with some mild detergent and water. To remove any stubborn odors that might be hiding elsewhere, you can use an ozone treatment that kills bacteria and neutralizes smells.
Another way to make your old car feel like new is to replace your worn-out seats with new ones. Your seats are the most important part of your interior comfort and appearance. They can also affect your safety and health. Old seats can have tears, stains, cracks, and sagging that make them look ugly and uncomfortable. They can also harbor dust mites, mold, and allergens that can trigger allergies and asthma. Moreover, old seats can compromise your posture and support, leading to back pain and fatigue. Replacing your seats with new ones can solve all these problems and give your car a fresh look. You can choose from different types of seats, such as leather, cloth, vinyl, or custom-made. You can also choose different colors, patterns, and styles to suit your taste and personality. New OEM Seats can also offer more features, such as heating, cooling, massage, lumbar support, and memory foam.
We hope this post has helped you make your old car feel like new with interior upgrades. By getting rid of the old car funk, replacing your worn-out seats, and adding some accessories and gadgets, you can enjoy a fresh and comfortable ride without breaking the bank. If you have any questions or need help finding the right seats for your vehicle, feel free to Contact Us or use the chat function below.
]]>According to our data, 92% of our customers opt for a DIY Seat Swap. Our team is always on standby to provide general guidance and ensure that you're adequately prepared for your seat installation.
Although dealerships are experts in brand-specific vehicle parts and service, they are often not the best choice for seat swaps. They can quote inflated prices or may even refuse the job, citing liability issues when it's actually unwillingness to handle third-party components.
Dealers are mostly interested in selling their own parts and are generally more expensive than other options for the same quality of work. For example, one of our customers was quoted almost $9,000 for powered seat installation in his Ford Focus. In contrast, a car audio shop did the same job for $120 in under 90 minutes.
If you're not comfortable with DIY but still want an affordable option, a body shop is your best bet. They are excellent for straightforward swaps requiring minimal electrical work. For example, replacing 2016 F250 seats in a '99-'07 style F-250 would be a suitable task for a body shop.
For more customized needs, consider our premium custom seat builds.
If your seat swap involves complex electrical work like heating or cooling functions, then a car audio shop is the way to go. They have the specialized skills needed for such advanced installations. For more complicated setups, such as adding heated & cooled seats, these are the experts you'll want to consult.
If you have a specific request for a seat or console that we don't have in stock, you can submit it through our request service.

]]>These people have no shame. One person we spoke to paid electronically for the seats and arranged a local pickup of them - 4 hours away from where they lived. They were sending an employee of theirs to pick up to save on shipping. Nobody ever showed to meet him. We noticed a website while searching online and the prices were to good to be true. After we toyed with them for a bit via text and email. They wanted their payment to be by money order..that was very amusing this day in age. So we reported them to the good people at Google, and in less than an hour, Google took their website down.
One specific group in particular has been identified, and if you've been dealing with any of these "businesses" which almost exclusively advertise on Facebook, RUN. The following Facebook pages and business names are all associated with a scamming group based in Cameroon, run by a man named Foryeh. He has been reported to the authorities, we've had a number of his pages removed from the internet. The Facebook pages unfortunately have not been taken down as of yet.
This Is NOT COMPREHENSIVE. This just scratches the surface. If you have been scammed by a similar website please let us know at support@oemcarandtruckseats.com and we will post it.
For the interest of safety and to not promote these websites, the .com has been excluded.
These scammers tend to use free texting apps, so they'll avoid phone calls. The numbers below are associated with the fake pages/websites above.
(909) 312-5394
(213) 761-4230
(909) 353-4320
(405) 877-0371
As shown in the photo, this Auto Parts business is located in Cameroon, which is odd considering their About Us page says Los Angeles.
Click "See All" on transparency. You can see the former names of the page. These pages operate by purchasing popular pages that have facebook likes and then converting them to store pages. In this situation, Quality Truck Seat was originally "J Y K E", a comedy page.
Ask for a physical address and then check google maps to see what's there.
Get the customer service phone number and call it. This will weed out many foreign scammers as they try to operate solely via text.
Ask for additional photos of the item. These scammers do not have possession of the item. Ask for close-ups, alternative angles, or even a photo of the seats with a paper that says the date on it.
Google the company you're dealing with. See if there are any mentions on the forums of them for firsthand unfiltered reviews.
If they have a website, check the about pages, the contact pages, legal, etc. Look for discrepancies.
Check to see if they sell product anywhere else online. Auction sites have buyer protections, so typically the large auto parts scammers will avoid them.
If you feel like the deal is too good to be true, it probably is. Do everything you can to verify information because these people do everything they can to make sure you don't have the ability to get a refund. Don't let the fear of missing out push you into making a purchase that will come back to bite you. Buy from a reputable company or auction site, not a random facebook page.
]]>For one of our customers, updating the seats in their Ford Ranger had a profound impact. The vehicle had seen its fair share of wear and tear, making the original seats not just uncomfortable, but also a potential safety risk. Take a look at the photos below to understand the severity of the wear.
Upgrading the seats in a Ford Ranger is a straightforward process. Generally speaking, seats from newer Rangers (up to the 2011 model) can fit older versions. However, be cautious if you are considering seats from a Ranger older than your own. It's also worth noting that seats from regular cabs and super cabs are not interchangeable. For this particular case, the customer opted for a set of 2006 seats for his 2001 model. Browse our current inventory for options.
The difference before and after the seat upgrade was staggering. The customer was thrilled and shared before and after photos with us. For more information on Ford Ranger seat swaps, you can check Ranger Forums and this informative YouTube video.

]]>In the last few years an issue has been becoming more prevalent - many customers are coming to us with issues in regards to GM 3rd Row seats. The seat functions are beginning to fail, leaving people with the frustrating situation of a seat being stuck in their vehicle, or one being unable to be installed.
These issues are unfortunately very complex due to the nature of the controlling mechanisms inside of the seats. In addition to a large mess of cables, there are locking cams that hold the seat upright. These often are damaged due to someone trying to flip the seat down from the tumbled position without first releasing the lock. Thanks to leverage, a tiny amount of force applied to the third row seats while tumbled can lead to a small bend enough to interfere with the cam and cable system. The #1 lever, if damaged, can become jammed. This can cause the seat to only partially lock in the upright position. In a collision this could cause the seat to dislodge and fold forward.
Most people selling third row GM seats aren't fully informed on this issue and they simply don't know what to check. On top of this, many sellers will go out of their way to hide these flaws in order to maximize profit.
It's crucial to keep an eye out for these issues up front, especially as some issues can prevent removal. You can literally get stuck with a set of third row seats if you buy the wrong set. Be sure to ask your seat supplier if they've manually checked the locking systems and cams - if they cannot definitively say they've been checked or if they don't know what that means, we recommend not purchasing from that supplier. All third row seats we offer are guaranteed to be fully functioning and they are fully tested.
]]>This is especially useful as many people are using these newer style seats in the 2004-2008 Ford F-150, as original seats for it are getting hard to find. See our selection of 2004-2008 F150 Seats.
To do this, we will wire a power & ground source directly to the switch, then connect the wires from the switch directly to the motors. There are three places that connections will be made. The first is at the seat motors directly, the second is at the seat leanback harness, and the third is directly at the floor.
See our selection of 2009-2014 Ford F150 Seats.
For trucks this swap is fairly straight forward, as long as you do not have the Bose Speaker system.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to the center airbag that deploys between the two front seats, we cannot recommend doing this swap in the SUV line of models without disabling the center airbag. This may Harm the center occupant if the centr airbag deploys in an accident.
Provided that you don't have the Bose system, you'll only need to address the wiring and add the "storage box" the dashboard where the console originally intersected. An example diagram is below, the storage box is #5. For this example, if we have a 2018 Silverado w/ 110v, we would use this instrument panel center compartment for ~$60.
If you absolutely must do it, it is possible however the task can be daunting. When the subwoofer is removed there is no carpet underneath it, so you can opt to leave it where it is and try and 'pretty it up' with a custom box.
We recommend HarnessDr.com for this project, they offer direct plug-and-play solutions for many options including wireless phone charging!

I was not present during the removal process, but it's believed that there are 8 bolts that hold the console in. They are located as follows:
There are only 4 bolts holding the jump seat in place:
Here's a step-by-step guide to removing the jump seat:
While it may seem intimidating, removing the dash is quite straightforward:
Now, it's time to install the new console. There are several options for securing it, including an optional front support bracket.
Follow the reverse steps you took for removal to install the new console.
The process is a bit more challenging for the truck that receives the jump seat. Note that you'll need to cap off the vents that were connected to the console. The installation should otherwise proceed as above.
Your new console is now fully installed!
If you want to upgrade your 2008, 2009, or 2010 Dodge Charger, Challenger, or Magnum you've probably noticed it's difficult to source replacement seats. The aggressive seat design of the RT, SRT8, and other high output models led to premature wear, making original seats near impossible to find. The good news is you can use the 2011 & newer seats with fairly minor modifications. This blog will show you how to do it yourself. This article only covers the mechanical aspect of the swap. Electrics should be fairly simple, check out our 7 key tips for a successful seat swap for more info.
The driver's seat is a direct bolt-in, so you only need to remove it and disconnect the wiring harness. The passenger seat has a secondary mounting track that needs to be removed and transferred to the new seat. Use a 15mm wrench on the bottom and a 10mm wrench on top to remove the through-bolts that hold the track.
The secondary mounting bracket allows the new seat to fit in the original position. You may need to grind off the alignment pin on the new seat if it gets in the way. See the photos below for reference.
Before installing the new seats, remove your original seat harness and install it onto the new seats - identify any missing sensors and move over as necessary. If you have adjustable pedals you'll need to custom mount that switch somewhere on the trim. Install the new seats and connect the wiring harness to the original connector.
Enjoy your new look and comfort! If you have any questions or feedback, please contact us! Thank you for reading!
These seats are comfortable, offer a flat mounting platform, and are ideal for hot rods, project cars, and seat swaps. However, installing the 'loaded' versions with advanced features requires special attention.
While the passenger seat motors are easy to operate with a simple 12-volt connection, powering up the driver's side is not as straightforward. Based on our extensive research, we've identified the extra steps required to get the driver's seat functional.
If you want to bypass the memory feature, follow the process similar to our previous guide on 2007-2014 GM Seats.

]]>Integrated seat belts, also known as seat belts built into the seat itself, are a unique feature in which the entire seat belt system is contained within the seat frame. This design allows for the seat to be removed from the vehicle while still maintaining its buckle functionality.
Integrated seat belts are commonly found in trucks and have occasionally been used in cars. They are particularly useful in extended cab trucks where there is no pillar for the seat belt to be bolted to, necessitating mounting the seat belt to the floor and ceiling. This design can create difficulties when entering and exiting the vehicle or when trying to access the rear area with only the front door open.
The solution to this problem was to house the entire seat belt assembly within the seat frame and reinforce the frame. This design was sometimes used in SUVs that shared the same body as the trucks, eliminating the need for a second seat design and testing process.
Integrated seat belts are also beneficial when restoring or modifying an older vehicle as they remove the need for secondary seat belt systems.
The following vehicles feature integrated seat belts:
]]>This is a fairly rare issue however it isn't unheard of. If that happens follow the steps below:
The issue is usually resolved by swapping over a simple component, typically a small sensor.
]]>Restoring older vehicles often involves the challenge of finding suitable replacement seats. Original seats may no longer be available for purchase, or they may be difficult to locate. This guide provides a comprehensive overview of how to install replacement seats in older vehicles, with a focus on bolting and wiring. It also offers suggestions for suitable seats for different types of vehicles, from project trucks to hot rods and small cars. Whether you’re dealing with a simple 4-bolt mounting pattern or a more complex system, this guide will help you navigate the process. Let’s dive in!
Mounting styles can vary significantly, with most seats featuring a simple 4-bolt mounting pattern. However, some newer GM seats use a 2-bolt/2-hook mounting pattern. For hot rods and project cars, the easiest route is often a seat with a completely flat seat track. This allows for through-bolting to the frame for a safe, secure seat and minimizes the amount of grinding required.
Powered seats offer many benefits, but it's important to ensure they are manageable. Fully "loaded" seats with heat, A/C, and memory can be complex to install. Powered tracks and lumbar are usually straightforward, typically requiring just 12 volts and a ground.
Seats equipped with memory require a memory bypass, which can be achieved by mapping out the switch harness and splicing it into the wires that go directly to the track motors.
Seats equipped with heat (without A/C) can usually be wired in with the OEM heat switches with some adjustments. If you want a heated seat but can't find one, don't worry! You can add a universal heater to it. This will likely be cheaper and cause fewer headaches in wiring.
Seats equipped with Heat and Air Conditioning use a special system that requires a computer. The best way to install this is to purchase a Katzkin DegreeZ kit from your local Katzkin dealer and retrofit it into your seat. For most manufacturers, this is very easy as the DegreeZ system is used in the OEM system.
These consoles may seem very similar, but when it comes to their features, there are some distinct differences. |
LTZ Console Features | LT2 Console Features |
---|---|
One large area of front-storage | Three smaller areas of front storage |
2 Front Cupholders (removable insert) | 2 Front Cupholders (removable insert) |
Rear Media Controls, Heated Seat Controls (Delete using GM Part # 1513482) | Small rear storage area |
The LTZ Console is designed for a curved dashboard, while the LT2 Console fits a 'flat' dashboard.
While it might seem logical to pair an LT2 Truck with an LT2 Console, it's not a requirement. LTZ Consoles are generally more affordable due to their commonality. The only minor issue would be a slight gap where the console meets the dashboard, which can easily be addressed.

If your car doesn't have folding rear seats, you will need to purchase and install the latches to keep the seat upright.
Powering up the seat track is straightforward if the seat you're purchasing doesn't have a memory feature. All you need is a 12-volt power source and a ground. Most car audio installers can add this circuit for under $100 per side.
For heated seats, you'll need to add a new power circuit along with the heater control circuit. Typically speaking, using an aftermarket seat heating kit is preferable to adapting the OEM heaters.
If your vehicle doesn't have this feature, you can still buy seats without it. You'll just need to buy a new trim piece or custom-mount a switch for the new trim piece.
If your replacement seat doesn't include safety sensors like the seat belt sensor or the track position sensor, you may need to transfer them from your old seat.
If your original seats have airbags, make sure to purchase replacement seats that also include airbags.
When it comes to safety features in vehicles, airbags are often at the top of the list. This guide will help you understand the intricacies of airbags in OEM car and truck seats, how to identify them, and what precautions to take when swapping seats.
If your seats were manufactured after 2000, there's a high likelihood that they come with built-in airbags. To verify, look for tags labeled "SRS" or "AIRBAG" on the seats. If such tags are missing, the seat trim could provide clues, particularly in imported vehicles like Toyota and Lexus.
In most cases, the airbag wires will have a yellow harness. However, seatbelt wires also use a yellow harness. To differentiate between the two, trace the wire to ensure it leads to the airbag. If you purchase from us we can mark the airbag wires for you. Just ask during your fitment call.
If you are swapping seats within the same vehicle year, the airbag connection should be compatible. To ensure a smooth transition, follow these steps:
Step | Action |
---|---|
1 | Disconnect the vehicle battery |
2 | Wait 15-30 minutes |
3 | Unplug the seats |
4 | Reconnect the battery after ensuring correct wiring |
This reduces the chance of needing an SRS system reset, which typically costs between $100-$200 at a dealership. However, some SRS resets can be performed at home.
Finding the right seat for your hot rod, rat rod, truck, or project car can be a difficult task. Why settle for cheap aftermarket bench seats when you can have quality OEM bucket seats?
OEM Seats are crafted by companies with entire divisions dedicated to safety and liability. They are durable, crash-tested, and DOT-approved.
The most crucial measurement to consider is FTA (Floor-To-Ass) Height. This is your starting point to avoid any issues with seat elevation.
Integrated seat belts make installation easier and safer, eliminating the need for pillar-mounted belts and keeping your car's interior clean.

Although aftermarket seats may be more affordable, they often lack in safety and durability. Generally speaking these are not intended to be used in production vehicles on highways.

A parts-free memory bypass has been achieved by our R&D Team for use by fabricators. It's painfully simple. You'll need to fire up the onboard memory computer. This is done by providing additional power to the vehicle, not just one hot lead as is typical. This will not get the heat running, but this gets all motors plus the lumbar and bolster working.
Schematics are available below for each basic type of seat these trucks came with.
